The Circle of Life

The circle of life is a symbolic representation of birth, survival and death. The idea of life as a circle or a wheel exists across many aspects of our lives – family, friends, pets and also the home. Life is represented by a circle because it is a constant loop which continuously rotates, breaks and reforms.

This has manifested itself to me personally only recently. With the sad passing of my beloved companion of 12 years, the legend that was Chico and the arrival two weeks ago of the ball of white fluffiness known as Tish! Both events have acted as catalysts encouraging me to make some changes at home.

There have been some practical and obvious changes such as clearing away beds, toys, food etc., which did not suit the new inhabitant of Queen Street combined with the need for a new start and a fresh focus. Change, however it comes upon us makes us reassess our lives and surroundings and reprioritise our commitments and plans.

This does not mean I believe in “out with the old and in with the new” but circumstances have necessitated the need to make choices. I will treasure my memories, hold on to the things I really love and add carefully chosen acquisitions to rebalance and enhance my life and home.

In Greek philosophy there is a saying – “Change is the only constant”.
